Harry Potter Invitations and Party Ideas

Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireYou are wanting to make some Harry Potter Invitations, but you are not sure what to do?  Here's some ideas for you:

Print your invitations on Scrolls with a Hogwarts logo on it as if it were an acceptance letter from the school of witchcraft and wizardry.

You can get very creative with your wording for these by bringing in topics, subjects and teachers names from the Harry Potter books and movies.  Have a think about something like this:

Dear <Guest>,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for <birthday boy/girls name>'s
Birthday Party
We look forward to seeing you on <date>.
Hogwarts express leaves Platform 9 3/4's  <Address> at precisely Eleven O'clock AM.
Please RSVP by way of OWL to <your email> or use the Flew Network <tel#>
Students may wish to wear their casual robes, as the journey may entail physical activity as well as working with messy potion ingredients.  Respectfully, Deputy Headmaster <Mum's Name>

Now that you have your Harry Potter Invitations sorted, think about how you can create a type of train platform out the front of your house - a simple way would be to mark a balloon with a number 9 and a balloon with a number 10 and have the kids walk through some streamers or a curtain to get to the other side.

Decorate your house with stars and moons and have plenty of games for the kids to play.  Some ideas would be to have the kids participate in a potions lesson - where the adults can guide them into performing some quick and exciting reactions.  Check out the links below for some cool little Experiments that you can do at home using household items - great for a potions lesson...

Floating Soap Bubbles

Dancing Raisins

Layered Liquids

Fizzing and Foaming

You could also have one of the adults learn some magic tricks to show the kids, or simply hire a magician for a small magic show.

You could place crystal balls around the room and have the kids make their own wizards/witches hats and wands.

There is so much you can do with a Harry Potter party - dress ups or not, it's sure to be a great day
